CC: Chemicals Convention, ILO 170, 1990 (entered into force 1993) This ILO Convention applies to all economic activity where chemicals are used. Countries are to introduce a national policy on the safe use of chemicals at work and establish principles for the implementation of effective protection programmes. They must adopt measures to ensure that all chemicals are evaluated to determine their hazards, that suppliers provide employers with relevant safety information so that effective protection programmes can be implemented, and that workers are given information about the chemicals at their workplaces and about appropriate preventative measures. Countries must report on implementation to the ILO. |
