ERC: Equal Remuneration Convention, ILO 100, 1951 (entered into force 1953)

This ILO Convention promotes the principle of equal pay for women and men workers for work of equal value. It suggests a number of mechanisms whereby this principle could be applied and encourages states to promote objective appraisals of jobs on the basis of work to be performed. The Recommendation Concerning Equal Remuneration, ILO 90, 1951, adopted at the same time as the Convention, provides more specific guidance for implementing the principle of equal remuneration. The ILO supervises the implementation of the Convention and Recommendation.
