PWC: Part-Time Work Convention, ILO 175, 1994 (entered into force 1998)

This ILO Convention requires countries to take measures to ensure that part-time workers are able to freely choose their work and receive the same protection as that accorded to comparable full-time workers. Of particular importance is the right to organize and bargain collectively, to occupational health and safety, and to be protected from discrimination. Further, wages must be calculated proportionately and social security schemes adapted to ensure equivalent conditions. Basic conditions of work relating to maternity protection, termination, paid annual leave, public holidays and sick leave must also be ensured. The ILO supervises implementation of the PWC.
