WFCLC: Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention, ILO 182, 1999 (not yet in force)

This ILO Convention requires that countries take measures to prohibit and eliminate the worst forms of child labour. This includes slavery and practices similar to slavery, the procuring or offering of a child for prostitution and other illicit activities like drug trafficking, and other work likely to harm the health, safety or morals of children. Children are defined as those persons under the age of 18. The WFCLC emphasizes the importance of education in eliminating child labour and asks countries to take account of the special situation of girls. The ILO will supervise its implementation once it has entered into force.
